The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a dreamlike journey through the hidden alpine gems of Kashmir. Located in the heart of the Himalayas, this 7-day trek is a visual feast of sparkling glacial lakes, wildflower meadows, majestic valleys, and high mountain passes. Every day introduces a new lake, a new landscape, and a new emotion. From the lush green meadows of Sonamarg to the crystal reflections of Gangabal and Nundkol, this is the most picturesque trek in India

Day 01: Arrival in Srinagar – Drive to Shitkadi Camp (Sonamarg)

Description:

 

Meet our team at Srinagar TRC or airport. Drive through the scenic countryside, surrounded by apple orchards, pine forests, and the Sindh River to reach Shitkadi. Settle into your camps and get a short acclimatization walk in the evening. Hot dinner under the stars to kickstart the adventure.

 

 

Day 02: Shitkadi to Nichnai Thach Trek

Description:

 

A gradual ascent through lush pine forests and open meadows leads to the picturesque Nichnai Valley. Cross wooden bridges, flowing streams, and encounter herds of sheep grazing on high-altitude pastures. The climb is long but rewarding.

 

 

Day 03: Nichnai to Vishansar Lake via Nichnai Pass

Description:

 

Today, we cross our first high-altitude pass – Nichnai Pass (13,100 ft). Once over the pass, the valley opens up with panoramic views. After a long descent and a walk through flower-strewn trails, we arrive at Vishansar Lake, one of the most magical lakes in the region.

 

 

Day 04: Vishansar to Gadsar Lake via Gadsar Pass

Description:

 

A steep climb leads to the Gadsar Pass – the highest point of the trek. Enjoy panoramic views of Vishansar & Kishansar lakes from the top. After the pass, the descent takes us to Gadsar Lake, surrounded by wildflowers and glaciers. The region is remote and breathtaking.

 

 

Day 05: Gadsar to Satsar Lake

 

  • Trek Distance: 11 km
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours
  • Altitude: 11,995 ft
  • Stay: Camp near Satsar – Twin Sharing

 

Description:

 

Pass through beautiful boulder fields and flower valleys. Satsar means “Seven Lakes”, and you’ll find small interconnected alpine lakes here. The campsite is tranquil and ideal for photography and quiet walks.

 

 

Day 06: Satsar to Gangabal via Zaj Pass

 

  • Trek Distance: 9 km
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

Description:

 

A challenging day over rugged terrain as you climb up to Zaj Pass, which offers breathtaking views of Gangabal & Nundkol Lakes – twin jewels of Kashmir. Descend to camp beside Gangabal Lake, set at the base of Mount Harmukh.

 

 

Day 07: Gangabal to Naranag Road Head – Drive to Srinagar

 

  • Trek Distance: 13 km
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours
  • Descent Altitude: 7,805 ft
  • Drive to Srinagar: 50 km | 2 hours
  • Trip End Point: Srinagar TRC

 

Description:

 

The final stretch of the trek is a continuous descent through pine forests and traditional shepherd settlements. Reach Naranag, where our vehicle awaits. Drive back to Srinagar and end your journey with unforgettable memories.
