Overview:

The Hampta Pass Trek is a dramatic crossover trek from the lush green valleys of Kullu to the stark arid landscapes of Lahaul. This trail offers a unique blend of scenic beauty, alpine meadows, glacial valleys, vertical rock walls, and river crossings. With every step, the scenery transforms — from forests to high-altitude deserts — making this trek one of the most diverse and photogenic trails in the Indian Himalayas. Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra | Trek to Chika (10,100 ft)

• Drive: 2 hours | Trek: 2 km (1.5 hours)
• Arrive in Manali and drive to Jobra, the trek starting point.
• Begin an easy ascent through pine forests and lush meadows.
• Reach Chika campsite near a stream and surrounded by giant rocky cliffs.
• Overnight in tents at Chika.

Day 2: Chika to Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft)

• Trek: 8 km (6 hours)
• A gradual climb along the Hampta River with river crossings and wildflowers all around.
• Arrive at Balu Ka Ghera — “heap of sand” — a campsite set at the base of the valley.
• Acclimatization session in the evening.
• Overnight in tents.

Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera to Hampta Pass (14,100 ft) and descend to Shea Goru (12,900 ft)

• Trek: 10 km (8-9 hours)
• The most challenging and rewarding day of the trek.
• Steep ascent to Hampta Pass offers surreal panoramic views of peaks like Deo Tibba and Indrasan.
• After spending some time at the pass, descend to the Shea Goru campsite.
• Overnight in tents beside a glacial stream.

Day 4: Shea Goru to Chatru (11,000 ft) | Drive to Chandratal

• Trek: 5 km (4-5 hours)
• Easy descent through the Spiti Valley with views of Spiti’s barren mountains.
• Reach Chatru, the road-head point.
• Optional drive to Chandratal Lake (depending on weather and road conditions).
• Return to Chatru for the night.
• Overnight in tents or local homestay                                                                                           

 Day 5: Drive from Chatru to Manali via Rohtang Pass

• Drive: 6-7 hours
• Scenic drive back to Manali crossing high-altitude passes and waterfalls.
• Reach Manali by evening.
• Trip ends with unforgettable memories.
