Overview

Mt. Black Peak, locally known as Kala Nag, is the highest peak in the Bandarpunch massif of the Garhwal Himalayas. Located in the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park of Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, this majestic peak offers the perfect blend of thrill, beauty, and technical mountaineering experience. The expedition is ideal for seasoned trekkers looking to transition into high-altitude mountaineering.

 

Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun – Transfer to Sankri (1,920 m)

  • Drive: 200 km | 8–10 hours
  • Reporting in Dehradun early morning.
  • Scenic drive through Mussoorie, Purola, and Mori valley.
  • *Stay”: Homestay/Guesthouse
  • Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Sankri to  Taluka (Drive) – Trek to Seema (2,560 m)

  • Drive: 12 km | Trek: 12 km | 6–7 hours
  • Jeep ride to Taluka, then trek alongside the Supin River through thick forests.
  • Camp near Seema village.
  • Stay: Tents

Day 3: Seema to Rainbasera (3,200 m)

  • Trek: 10 km | 5–6 hours
  • Trail passes through lush meadows and small wooden bridges.
  • Enchanting alpine views begin here.

Day 4: Rainbasera to Ruinsara Tal (3,500 m)

  • Trek: 8 km | 4–5 hours
  • Reach the majestic Ruinsara Lake surrounded by towering peaks.

Day 5: Ruinsara Tal to Kyarkoti Base Camp (3,800 m)

  • Trek: 7 km | 4 hours
  • Trail becomes steeper and more rugged, views of Kalanag become dominant.

Day 6: Rest & Acclimatization at Base Camp

  • Acclimatization walks, basic mountaineering techniques training.

  • Trek: 6 km | 4–5 hours

Day 8: Move to Advance Base Camp (ABC)

  • Shift with all gear and team to ABC.

Day 9: Summit Camp Setup (5,200 m)

  • Trek/climb to Summit Camp. Technical terrain begins.
  • Rope fixing and crevasse training.

Day 10: Rest Day & Summit Preparation

  • Acclimatization and final briefings for summit push.

Day 11: Summit Attempt – Mt. Black Peak (6,387 m)

  • Start at midnight. 10–12 hour climb to summit and return to Summit Camp.
  • Push through steep ice walls and crevasses.
  • Rewarded by 360° Himalayan views from the summit.

Day 12: Reserve Summit Day

  • Buffer day in case of bad weather or other delays.

Day 13: Descend to Base Camp

Day 14: Base Camp to Seema via Ruinsara

  • Long descent day. Trek through same alpine route.

Day 15: Seema to Taluka – Drive to Dehradun

  • Trek 12 km to Taluka, then drive to Dehradun.
  • Expedition ends with certificates and memories of a lifetime
